50 sun kissed Contenderers compete for 2006 Nats
Stuart Jones held off credible challenges from Gary Langdown and Graham Scott to take his 4th National Championship, despite not winning a race.

Gary led after day 1but the faultless consistency of Jones took its toll, as he scored no worse than 6th from the 5 races sailed.

Gary's 2 races wins were still not enough to prevent him claiming his second 'Bridesmaids' position after Stuart delivered the same medicine in 2004.

Thanks must go to Teigh Corinthian YC for their patience and hard work to even squeeze the 5 races we had into the frustratingly light winds dominated event. With only marginal trapezing possible, huge loses and gains on the snakes and ladders Olympic course were inevitable.

The gloriously sunny weather may have prevented limited yacht racing but did allow for much 'off-the-water' boat tuning and tips to be disseminated throughout the fleet via our 'buddies' partnering - this was very well received by the newcommers to the fleet

Overall results:

1st Stuart Jones, 2nd Gary Langdown, 3rd Graham Scott, 4th Keith Paul, 5th Peter Dives, 6th Allan Orton, 7th Matt Aston, 8th Simon Mussell, 9th Richard Gimmler, 10th Gareth Humphrey
