Jono Neate wins austr. Championship

Day 4 Jono Neate wins Championship with a day to spare 5 January 2009
Day 4
Race 7
The course was set for another fantastic day of racing in the Swan.
The race started in 12-14 knots and it has been quoted by the Race
Committee that everyone was only centimetres from the line at the
gun. Jono and Paul showed good pace and got an early lead which was
unable to be closed. The Race for third overall and sixth overall
was very close. Robin got the better of Ross and Matt showed he was
to quick for John and Chris.
1st Jono, 2nd Paul, 3rd Matt.
Race 8
The wind had cranked to 20 knots and we were set for some awesome
Contender racing. The start saw a fight for the pin, with the winner
being a good chance to be first to the top mark. Hosie left the lay
line to the pin end a little fine and resulted in a swim, damage and
a DNF. Jono was first to the top mark but unable to break away on
the reaches. The wind keep increasing and caused more boats to DNF.
The last triangle had some awesome reaching with the fleet low
wiring all the way down wind. In the end Jono came 1st, Paul 2nd ,
Chris 3rd. After 8 Races 1st and 2nd appear locked in. There is a
very close battle for 3rd, 6th and 9th.
Overall the racing has been fantastic (15 + knot wind, flat water,
and a really good Race Committee.) PERTH IS A GREAT PLACE!! (writer:
